Workforce Training for Tribal Government Employees
Professional skills and workplace certificate programs that make a department work, delivered on site to the whole staff.
Built for Indian Country, by leaders who have served Tribal Nations.
A Department Is Only as Good as Its Weekday
Leadership courses train the people at the top. Workforce courses train everyone else: the clerk, the technician, the case worker, the dispatcher. They cover the habits that decide whether a department runs, and they are taught in a way that respects adults who have been doing the job for years.
The Service Standard and the Professional Skills Certificate
The Service Standard: customer service for tribal government. A floor for behavior at every counter, phone, and front door, with editions for housing, gaming, and public safety. One day.
Professional Skills Certificate: communication, time management, workplace accountability, conflict at work, and documentation. Two days.
Workplace Conduct and Culture
Respect, boundaries, harassment prevention, and what professional conduct looks like in a community where coworkers are also relatives and neighbors. One day.
Buildings and Grounds, Maintenance, and Field Staff
Courses for the crews most training forgets: safety, work orders, tenant and public contact, and supervising a field crew. Built as a six month cohort with one course day a month, or as single days.
Who Should Attend
All tribal government employees. Departments onboarding new staff. Programs that have received a complaint or an audit finding about service. Maintenance, buildings and grounds, and field crews.
Who teaches: every course is taught in person, on site or at the Native Learning Center, by Dr. William R. Latchford, DCJ, retired Executive Director of Public Safety and Chief of Police for the Seminole Tribe of Florida, and by NPKCG instructors who have run the departments the course is for. No webinars, no slide readers.
What Participants Leave With
- An NPKCG certificate of completion
- A one page standard the department keeps and posts
Questions We Hear on Every Call
We have 200 employees. Can you train all of them? Yes. Workforce courses are built for repeated delivery to groups of 20 to 30 over a week or a month, with the same instructor and the same standard every time.
Does this connect to the assessment? It can. After an organizational assessment, NPKCG builds the training calendar straight from the findings, so the courses go where the gaps are.
Part of the Peacekeeper Leadership Institute
Workforce Development is one of five programs of the Peacekeeper Leadership Institute, alongside Public Safety, Tribal Housing, Tribal Leadership, and Social and Community Services.
