Training for Tribal Social Services, Behavioral Health, and Community Programs
Trauma informed practice, crisis response, case coordination, and professional boundaries, taught in person for the people who carry the community’s hardest cases.
Built for Indian Country, by leaders who have served Tribal Nations.
The Work Is Harder in a Small Community
A tribal case worker sees the family at the clinic, at the store, and at the ceremony. Boundaries, confidentiality, and burnout mean something different when the client is also a relative. These courses are built for that reality, not for a county agency with a waiting room.
Social and Community Services Certificate
Trauma informed care, crisis response and de-escalation, case management and coordination across programs, documentation, and professional boundaries. Three days.
Crisis Response and Working Across Programs
Crisis Response for Non Law Enforcement Staff: what social services, housing, and front office staff do in the minutes before police arrive. Recognizing a crisis, de-escalation, personal safety, and the handoff. One day, often taught alongside the public safety department.
Working Across Programs: for social services, housing, public safety, health, and education staff together. How a family’s case moves between programs, who owns what, and how to stop the gaps. One day, delivered to a mixed group.
Who Should Attend
Social services and family services staff. Behavioral health and substance use program staff. Community health representatives. Housing and front office staff who deal with families in crisis. Program directors.
Who Teaches
Every course is taught in person, on site or at the Native Learning Center, by Dr. William R. Latchford, DCJ, retired Executive Director of Public Safety and Chief of Police for the Seminole Tribe of Florida, and by NPKCG instructors who have run the departments the course is for. Social services courses are co-taught with licensed clinical and social work instructors from NPKCG’s consultant group. No webinars, no slide readers.
What Participants Leave With
- An NPKCG certificate of completion
- A boundaries and self care plan written during the course
Questions We Hear on Every Call
Is this clinical training? No. It is professional practice training for program staff. Clinical licensure training stays with the licensing bodies; these courses sit alongside it.
Can this be funded? Often. Staff training is an allowable cost under most tribal social services, behavioral health, and victim services grants. NPKCG’s grant services can help.
